I’ve been wondering for ages if you ever get a skin reaction from any of the numerous potions you try. And what do you do with all the extra stuff you must have after using…give away, toss, etc? And since it can take several weeks for a skin care product to make a difference, do you give it that amount of time? If so, you must have an assembly line of stuff waiting to try in your enviable collection! I have so many samples that I sometimes get overwhelmed, so inquiring minds want to know how others do it.
I have a lot of hair and skin samples that I know are not right for me. When I get together with my girlfriends, I sometimes bring a big bag of stuff I don’t want, and share it with them. I also drop off new samples that are decent sizes (i.e. 2oz shampoo samples, 1.7oz face cleanser, lipstick/lipgloss minis) at the local homeless shelter.

I do sample a lot of products. And the older I get, the pickier I get about what I will put on myself! I’ve learned over the years what ingredients to avoid (for me, vitamin c and chamomile); and if I don’t like the way a product smells, I don’t use it. If I don’t like the scent in the jar, I certainly won’t like it all over my face (or in my hair). And if I’m not enjoying using the product after a week or so, out it goes. Plus, I mix it up. Different am and pm serums, and I rotate through a lot. For me, it’s more fun to use a lot of different products (though I certainly do have favorites and HGs).
I’ve also learned over the years, I don’t need to buy every single great deal. There will be another great deal, almost always, if I’m patient. So I’ve become more judicious with what I buy. It certainly helps keep the stash manageable.
I do have a lucky sister and some friends who greatly benefit from my pile of rejects! And I have a charity event I give a lot of products away to every summer. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing some giveaways… but haven’t worked through all the details yet.

Yes it definitely helps. Can I be your “sister”! Every once in awhile I have a skin reaction to a sample and it made me wonder if you ever did, since you must go through a gazillion more products than I do. I use the little packet samples (meant for the face) on my hands since a one or two time application isn’t going to help anyways. Your stash must look like a Sephora…and that’s an enviable good thing! The first time I stepped into Sephora, the word that came to mind was seductive, and it still is, as are the free GWP’s.
